Our Story
A community built on the belief that talent shouldn't have to wait for permission.
"If you're here tonight, thank you. Your presence, quite literally, makes this possible."
Udaan is a Melbourne-based South Asian arts collective dedicated to bringing Hindi, Urdu and subcontinental cultural experiences to Australian audiences.
Through music, poetry, storytelling and performance, Udaan creates spaces where language, memory and art come alive.
Udaan was born from a simple belief: that talent shouldn't have to wait for permission. This is a space for artists who are still finding their footing — a stage to try, to stumble, to surprise themselves and you.
There's no big machine behind this. No grand production. Just a community of people who believe the arts deserve room to breathe, and that the best way to build that room is together.
Based in Melbourne and growing toward a national stage, we welcome artists and audiences at every level — from community members presenting for the first time to seasoned professionals.
Hindi and Urdu as living, breathing forms — not museum pieces.
Every show begins with people. Every artist is supported.
Talent shouldn't have to wait for permission. Neither should an audience.
From Melbourne to a national stage — carrying these art forms forward.
Perform, volunteer, sponsor, or simply show up. Every role matters.
